New Updates for 2021
For 2021 the Crosstrek's front bumper and grille have been tweaked for a slightly fresher look, while a new, more powerful 2.5L engine has been added as an available option.
Powertrain and Performance Options
There are two gas engine choices for the latest Crosstrek. The base is a 2.0L design which offers 152 horsepower and 145lb-ft of torque. A welcome addition to the range is an all-new 2.5L mill which pushes the ponies up to 182hp and raises the twist to 176lb-ft. Both engines are paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) which gives a smooth and reliable drive under all conditions. Also available is a plug-in hybrid option based around the 2.0L engine with an additional electric motor, which increases the fuel economy dramatically while also giving a boost to acceleration.
Excellent Fuel Economy
The base engine has a great fuel economy rating of 7.8L / 100km combined, and even the more powerful 2.5L mill delivers an impressive 8.1L / 100km. But as you'd expect, the hybrid option is significantly more efficient, with a stunning combined equivalent rating of just 2.6L / 100km.
Safety and Driver Assist
Subaru consistently performs well in crash safety tests, and the 2021 Crosstrek is no exception, gaining five stars from the NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS. Safety is further increased by a suite of active driver assist systems, which are available on every trim either as standard or as reasonably priced additions. The main systems include: • Lane keeping assist and departure warnings. • Automated emergency braking. • Adaptive cruise control.
Interior Tech and Infotainment
All trim levels of the 2021 Crosstrek offer an infotainment touchscreen, with size choices of 6.5" or a more luxurious 8". Smartphone integration is offered as standard via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while Bluetooth connectivity and a USB port is also present on every model. Higher trims can add integrated navigation to the 8" display, and also bring a SiriusXM satellite radio option into the mix.
