The four-door sedan format is graced with plenty of curves and swept-back lines, while the large hood inlet, low-slung front spoiler, and prominent rear diffusers announce the car's genuine performance intentions. With the WRX, Subaru have produced a car that looks at home on the track and driveway alike.
Exhilarating Performance
The WRX is built for performance, and this shows through clearly in the powertrain configuration. Every model in the lineup is powered by the same 2.0L turbo engine, pushing out 268 horsepower and 258lb-ft of torque to all-wheel drive as standard. This healthy output delivers an impressive acceleration figure of 0-100km/h in just 5.4 seconds, with that benchmark being only a staging post toward the blistering top speed of 259km/h. For a real hands-on driving experience, the 2021 WRX is available with an old-school six-speed manual transmission, although the continuously variable transmission (CVT) option offers selectable Sport and Sport Sharp modes to bring a tougher edge to the throttle control if desired.
Infotainment
The 2021 Subaru WRX might be firmly focused on a thrilling driving experience, but that doesn't mean the infotainment technology comes up short. A choice between a 6.5" and a 7" touchscreen is used to access audio and safety systems, with smartphone integration made easy through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In-built navigation is an optional extra, along with a premium quality Harman Kardon sound system with true audiophile quality.
Advanced Safety
The 2021 WRX earned a full five-star safety rating from the NHTSA along with a Top Safety Pick award from the IIHS. The safety is enhanced even further on all CVT models, with the Subaru EyeSight system providing forward collision warnings with emergency braking, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, and lane departure warnings with keeping assist.
