2023 Subaru Solterra - First All-Electric Vehicle from Subaru
Subaru Canada showcased their all-new, all-electric SUV to be available next year. It is a beautifully engineered design. Great flowing lines detail the energy efficiency of this first electric vehicle from Subaru. They offer a genuine capability to drive in the city or go off-road, with the silent benefits of driving an all-electric SUV.
The cabin is spacious and has a perfectly flat floor, which gives more legroom at the back. The seats are covered in soft-touch, all-weather upholstery for durability and comfort. The driver has a clear view of the Digital Speed screen, raised higher than the dash, and centered in front of the driver. A big Central Infotainment Center connects via Bluetooth to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Integration, with Navigation.
The 2023 Subaru Solterra comes with the legendary Subaru Symmetrical Full Time All-Wheel Drive system, which offers superior traction and control in any road condition. The powertrain is well balanced, with one electric motor driving the front wheels and one electric motor driving the back wheels. This contributes to the great capability and handling of Subaru’s first electric SUV.
The Subaru StarDrive supplies you with on-demand torque at all engine speeds. To enhance driving pleasure, there are sport mode selection and paddle shifters. Another standard feature is the X-mode system to assist with climbing up or down steep hills. The Grip-Control function lets you maintain a constant driving speed, even on rough roads.
The eSubaru Global Platform
As with all the other Subaru’s before the EV era, safety is all-important to the brand. The all-new 2023 Subaru Solterra Electric SUV is no exception. Having driver and passenger safety as a priority, Subaru developed the eSubaru Global Platform.
Designed to be the most rigid platform, crumple zones are strategically placed in the reinforced structure to give maximum protection in the event of a crash. When in a collision, these compartments absorb the impact, steering the impact energy away from passengers. This platform does not only protect the passengers but also the critical components of the powertrain.
Standard Driver Assist Technology
The following driver assistance is standard in the all-new, all-electric, 2023 Subaru Solterra SUV:
- Pre-collision Braking assist brings the vehicle to a complete stop when sensing a collision
- Cruise control
- Traffic monitoring
- Lane crossing alert
- Rear crossing alert
- Blindspot detection
- Reverse Automatic Stopping
- 360 degree Surround View camera system
The 2023 Subaru Solterra comes with a High Capacity Battery Pack. There are three different ways to recharge the batteries. You can plug it into any standard 120V outlet for a Level1 charge. You can install the 240V charger at your home or office for Level2 Charging. Level3 charging at a DC Fast Charging Station will give an 80% charge in less than an hour.
It would be great to test drive the 2023 Subaru Solterra. It is wonderful that Subaru spent the extra time to design an electric vehicle that still has all the off-road capabilities and safety features of the Subaru’s that we came to love.
